Hennepin Theatre Trust
Minneapolis has a bustling theater scene and some of the top performances, including Broadway productions, can be found here. According to Pollstar, on a per-capita basis, the Twin Cities are second only to NYC in number of theater tickets sold. In 2014 the Orpheum Theatre was fifth in the world for ticket sales. Hennepin Theatre Trust owns and programs the Orpheum as well as the two others among the most sought-out and historic theaters in the Midwest.
In the early 20th century, Hennepin Avenue was known as “Theater Row” and contained more than 30 performance centers dedicated to live theater and entertainment. The three that remain today, State Theatre, Orpheum Theatre and Pantages Theatre, are all owned and operated by Hennepin Theatre Trust. The organization is devoted to preserving the three historic buildings and to guarantee their continued existence in Minneapolis.
From Broadway productions and holiday classics to live concerts and dance works, each theatre offers a wide variety of programming. Some past showings include "The Phantom of the Opera", "Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy", "The Humans" and "School of Rock." Check their website to see what’s playing currently.
